Launch36 Fall Cohort: Call for Applications

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Moncton, NB, September 10th, 2012 – Think you have the next big thing?

Great ideas are essential, but a good team and an even better execution plan are what you need to take your company to the next level.

East coast startup accelerator program Launch36 is now taking applications for its Fall 2012 cohort program.  Launch36, a Propel ICT network initiative, is an intensive accelerator program designed to quickly move selected entrepreneurs to an investor-ready state.  The group runs two sessions per year with the goal of successfully launching 36 companies over a 3 year period.

Each participating startup is selected by a panel of entrepreneurs and investors based on the quality of the team, product opportunity and growth potential.  Companies follow a rigorous mentorship program for 5-months to launch a minimum viable product. At the end of the program it’s sink or swim time as they put you in front of real live investors at Demo Day.

Launch36’s inaugural Demo Day in Dieppe, NB this past June saw 10 new technology ventures creates in the region.  Since that time over $1,000,000 in financing has been raised by the companies through angel investors and venture capitalists, 43 full time jobs were created and 1/3 of the companies are now generating revenue.

LeadSift, a social media analytics startup from Halifax, NS says that the best thing to happen to them at its early stage was being accepted to the accelerator. “We made connections and contacts within 5 months, which would take a lifetime to build.” says Sreejata Chatterjee, LeadSift Co-Founder.

"With the results from our first cohort, we expect an increase in the quality and quantity of applicants for the next group" said Executive Director Trevor MacAusland. "Investors from outside Eastern Canada are now taking notice of the quality of entrepreneurs we have in this region with recent successful exits from GoInstant, Radian6 and Q1 Labs.  So if you have been thinking about being an entrepreneur, there has never been a better time to do so.”

The group is interested in applicants who have a technology focused idea or concept, are a new or early stage ICT start-up founder, are a digital or hardware solution and have a realistic execution plan (but no formal business plan is required and preferred).

Organizers say that there are no age restrictions, however; it is recommended that interested parties live is Eastern Canada for the 5-month period since there will be weekly in-person meetings in Moncton, NB, Canada for the duration of the program.

Deadline for applications is October 16th Interested parties can apply online at http://launch36.ca/apply-launch36.  If you need additional consideration or assistance with your application, contact the group before October 1st, 2012.
