Atlantic Startups Set To Take The Stage & Pitch Potential Investors at Launch36’s 2nd Official Demo Day.

Event will feature global startup icon Sir Terry Matthews as keynote speaker.

Moncton, Canada -  One look at recent funding and acquisition announcements from Eastern Canada and one can easily see why the East Coast has been put on the map as a notable tech sector in Canada. Wondering who the next Radian6 or LeadSift may be? Look no further than this year’s Launch36 Demo Day, hosted by Propel ICT during East Coast Startup Week.
On March 21st, 2013, in Fredericton, New Brunswick, eight startups will each take six minutes to pitch their innovation or idea to an audience that will include potential investors and partners, startup enthusiasts and special guests, Sir Terry Matthews and Gerry Pond. Sir Terry Matthews, founder and Chairman of Wesley Clover, will also be the keynote speaker for the event. Since 1972, Sir Terry has either founded or funded over 80 companies, including Newbridge Networks, founded in 1986, which went on to become a leader in the worldwide data networking industry.
This year’s Fall 2012 cohort features startups from New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island and will include; Analyze Re, Crossing Mobile, RUMAnalytics, Seeets, Shopulse, UpMyGame, Wicked Ideas, and WP Status. Launch36 is an intensive accelerator program designed to quickly move selected entrepreneurs to an investor-ready position. There are two sessions per year with a goal of successfully launching 36 companies over a three year period.

“They go through a pretty rigorous mentorship program leading up to this event,” explains Trevor MacAusland, Executive Director of Propel ICT. “On Demo Day - it’s really sink or swim time.”

And just how life changing can one ten minute pitch at Demo Day be? For Nova Scotia startup LeadSift, it’s a million dollar answer. The team just announced funding of $1.1M, a round that began shortly after they captivated the crowd at their Demo Day last June. The event, sponsored by East Valley Ventures and BDC, gets underway at 6:00pm in the Pointe Ste-Anne C/D room at the Fredericton Convention Center. Startups will be showcased prior to the event, in the foyer of the convention center starting at 5:00pm.

Tickets are $36 and can be purchased online at
