MEDIA ADVISORY: Launch36 Now Accepting Applications for Spring 2014 Cohort

Moncton, NB – January 31, 2014 –Launch36, the Atlantic Canadian regional startup accelerator, has opened applications for its fourth cohort, building on its mission of launching 36 companies in three years.

In particular, the accelerator, which is operated by the regional technology association Propel ICT, is hoping for its first participants from Newfoundland and Labrador.

Three groups of tech startups from the Maritimes have already graduated from the program. Now the group is working with Startup Newfoundland to draw the interest of companies from Newfoundland and Labrador.  Interested companies should contact Roger Power at startup [at]

“From the inception of Launch36, our vision has been to graduate 36 new high growth ventures from across the region by the end of 2015,” said Propel ICT Chair Scott MacIntosh. “We’re extremely proud of the quality of the 26 companies that have successfully completed the program so far, and look forward to the next cohort.”

Since its creation in 2012, Launch36 has graduated 26 companies. They have created more than 100 jobs and raised more than $12 million in equity investment. Most of the companies were generating revenue by the end of the three-month program.

“Our goal is to help high-growth potential entrepreneurs turn their ideas into sustainable businesses,” said Launch36 Executive Director Trevor MacAusland. “Our mission is to help surround these entrepreneurs with mentors and advisors who can help them identify risks, validate their product within the market and make them investor-ready so they can raise capital.”

Launch36 is an intense three-month sprint in which companies focus on validating their markets and acquiring customers. This is done by combining Lean Startup methodologies with a group of more than 120 mentors from around and outside Atlantic Canada. The successful graduates will be considered for a $150,000 convertible debenture issued by BDC Venture.

Companies interested in applying for Cohort 4 should visit before the February 28th deadline.
