Propel ICT delivers its high-impact accelerator programs to early and later-stage startups across Atlantic Canada with the help of a network of great partner organizations. Together with these organizations, as well as our volunteers and expert coaches, we’re helping to build a thriving new economy in Atlantic Canada. Over the last 10 years we’ve launched 75 companies and we don’t hesitate to say that we couldn't have done it alone.
One of our great partners is the Genesis Group in St. John’s, Newfoundland. Located on the campus of Memorial University in the Bruneau Centre for Research and Innovation, the Genesis Group is a separately incorporated entity, reporting to an independent board of directors who are drawn primarily from the private sector. The centre acts as an incubator and provides a support network to help Newfoundland and Labrador knowledge-based entrepreneurs create high-growth enterprises that are investor-ready.
Businesses accepted for residence in the centre benefit from in-house mentorship, as well as help with business plans, and a schedule of special learning and networking events. During their time in the Genesis Centre, Client Advisory Boards are put together to help the client's business benefit from a dynamic combination of advisors, including their own shareholders as well as "outside" individuals.
Through the centre's affiliation with Memorial University, clients also get the incredible advantage of being able to access the university’s technical and scientific resources, including the Manufacturing Technology Centre, and the Statistics Consulting Centre. Within the centre, a variety of up-to-date business technology equipment is made available to businesses – from laptops and scanners, to photography equipment and LCD projectors.
Genesis also offers programs such as Genesis Evolution, a program for early-stage startups as well as for candidates applying for acceptance into the Genesis Group. The program focuses on helping these new founders to better identify their market, test their hypotheses, and validate their idea.
Through the group's partnership with Propel, Keelin O'Leary, Genesis' Vice President of Entrepreneurial Support says their ability to offer Newfoundland startups great programming and access to crucial resources will further expand.
"We look forward to working with Propel ICT and ensuring that we have a range of programs and services that will enable start-ups to thrive. There'll be some great synergies that will come out of working with them, which will benefit aspiring entrepreneurs throughout the Province."
Working together with fantastic organizations like the Genesis Group, StartupNL and Common Ground, Propel ICT is excited to be able to expand its reach throughout Atlantic Canada, and improve its offerings to program participants. Together, we’re building a strong new economy for Atlantic Canada.
