As a former CEO, seasoned entrepreneur, current board director, and consultant Cathy's focus is growth. With over 30 years of business leadership, her own company Bennett Group of Companies grew from a small group of service businesses to operations in commercial and industrial construction, industrial manufacturing, human resource support, service, retail, industrial supply, and real estate investments and operations.

She serves/ has served on numerous privately-held corporate boards with interests in real estate, natural resources, manufacturing, industrial construction, technology, and business services. She is currently a director with Vigilant Management, Dynamic Air Shelters, and the Business Development Bank of Canada as well as SheEO.

Over her career she has been an active board member of dozens of community-based organizations and is currently co-chair/founder of ConnectioNL, a community-based volunteer organization facilitating mentorship for new and growing businesses.

Focused on supporting start-ups Cathy is an associate fellow with the Creative Destruction Lab, and a board member with Propel, Atlantic Canada’s Virtual Accelerator. She is also one of the founders of the Atlantic Women’s Venture Fund.

She has also served as a Member of the Newfoundland & Labrador House of Assembly serving in Cabinet as Minister of Finance, President of Treasury Board, Minister Responsible for the Status of Women, the Human Resource Secretariat, the Public Service Commission and the Office of the Chief Information Officer.

Currently, Cathy is the Volunteer Team Leader of TaskForceNL, a group of senior volunteer business leaders whose goal is to offer parallel teams who can help manage the biggest crisis of our time, COVID 19. TaskForceNL is supporting the health care system in ensuring frontline health care workers have what they need when they need it.
